Macmillan High Tea
Friday 30th September 2016

We would like to express a huge thank you to everyone who came to our Macmillan High Tea event last Friday. It was lovely to see so many people. We are delighted to inform you that we managed to raise £282.50 for the organisation. It wouldn’t have been possible without your kind generosity. Well done to the Year 6 team for all their hard work!

‘’At Hughenden Primary, we are always looking to find new ways to help our local community as much as they help us. With this in mind, our class and Mr Meatyard, our teacher, decided that we should try and raise money for Macmillan Cancer support, which is charity that many people in our local area are supported by.

We began by coming up with ideas to raise money and we finally settled on the idea of having a ‘Hughenden High Tea’ event to raise money for this important cause. After splitting into groups, we each decided on a cake or treat that we would bake, researching the recipe and cooking times, as well as the equipment we would need to make it.

Next, we created a presentation to encourage our friends and their families to come, whilst also creating flyers which we posted in homes around our local area. Some residents were so impressed that we raised £56 before we had even sold a cake! The day came and we all helped served Tea, cakes and treats to our family and friends, raising over £260 for Macmillan Cancer support.  We would like to thank everyone that came.

As our one of our flyers read ‘Cake, chats and cancer, three things that are better shared.’’
