School Term Dates
Re: Change to Inset Day
We are writing to advise you of a change in our Inset Days. This has been fed down from Children’s Services at County and is linked to National Teacher Learning Day which is taking place on the 3rd July 2020. The benefits to our teaching staff to attend collaborative training is too important to miss. County have extended their apologies for the lateness of their notification to schools.
We fully appreciate many families may have already booked trips and activities, but this is totally beyond our control. If families have already booked trips for the 20th July 2020 and notified us of this, it will be classed as an authorised absence.
The school inset days for the 2019/2020 academic year are now as follows:
2nd September 2019, 3rd September 2019, 6th January 2020, 3rd July 2020 and 21st July 2020.
The last day of the Summer term will now be Monday 20th July with a 1.30pm finish. The day will be a fun day with activity based games. As before, there will be no wrap around care so all children will need to be collected at 1.30pm.
We extend our sincere apologies for this but hope you understand this decision was out of our control. The dates will be updated on the website calendar to reflect this change.
The front door will open at 8.45 am for pupils to go through to their classrooms. By entering the school this way, the school is secure which is always important when considering the health and safety of the pupils.
Break time is from 10.30 to 11 am - 15th minutes for each key stage
Lunchtime is from 12.00 to 12.45 for KS2 and 12.00 - 1.00 pm for Foundation and KS1
Afternoon session ends at 3:15pm for Foundation children, 3.20pm for KS1 and 3.30pm for KS2
There is an afternoon playtime for KS1.
Children who arrive late need to report to the office to register.
If a child is absent please inform the school of the reason before 10.00 am. on the first day of absence by leaving a message on the Absent message service or in person. When your child returns to school, please send a note stating clearly the reason for absence.
Our assemblies, unless otherwise stated, run between 2-2.15pm and are split between KS1 and KS2. Throughout the year we will invite parents to assemblies for calendar events such as the 'Harvest Assembly', class assemblies and 'Year 6 Leavers' Assembly. We often hold services in St Michaels and All Angels Church in Hughenden for special occasions eg: Harvest, Easter and Christmas.
Every Friday we hold a 'Celebration' Assembly where we share achievements that children have received during the week and they are awarded with a certificate. Children are also welcome to bring in achievements awarded from clubs outside of school to share.
