Young Voices

5th February 2019

On Tuesday 5th February 2019, Hughenden Primary School’s year 5 and 6 children took part in an inspirational day, singing alongside 8,800 other primary school children from across the UK at the Young Voices 2019 concert in the London O2 Arena.

The children have been working hard since September to learn a challenging set of songs and dance routines.  At the concert all of this hard work paid off;  they were (nearly) word and step perfect on the night!

Hughenden’s seats were quite high up, just to the left of the stage, which gave us an excellent view of the evening.  The children enjoyed watching and joining in with some truly amazing artists, including Beau Dermott, Sharlene Hector (lead singer of Basement Jaxx), Tony Hadley and Urban Strides.

The concert included a wide range of songs old and new, including music from Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, the Kinks, the film Moana, David Bowie, Blondie, Katie Perry, Coldplay, and Michael Jackson. There was also a selection of American Folk songs, a swing medley and a pop medley.  The concert finished with an enthusiastic performance of a medley of songs from The Greatest Showman, introduced via a recorded message by the Greatest Showman himself, Hugh Jackman!

Thank you to everyone involved in making this event such a success, and for helping to create some wonderful memories that the children will treasure for ever.
