Enrichment

the Enrichment Offer

At Hughenden Primary School, we believe that children’s education extends beyond the classroom. Our enrichment offer is designed to Enrich, Empower and Ignite every child, providing opportunities to discover new interests, develop talents, build confidence and understand their place within the school, local community and wider world.

Our enrichment programme is organised around five key areas:

  • Belong & Contribute – How can I help my school and community?
  • Create & Discover – What can I make, perform and learn about?
  • Explore & Protect – What can I discover and how can I care for it?
  •   Move & Challenge – How can I be active and challenge myself?
  •   Learn & Prepare – What skills will help me in life and the future?

We aim for children to experience a broad, balanced and progressive range of opportunities throughout their time at Hughenden. Experiences are carefully selected so that children revisit areas at increasing levels of independence, challenge and responsibility. For example, children may first experience and explore, then participate and develop, before going on to contribute, lead and prepare for life beyond primary school.

Our local context is an important part of our enrichment offer. We make use of the opportunities available in Hughenden Valley, High Wycombe and Buckinghamshire, including our local environment, community, heritage and cultural organisations. Whole-school experiences such as Enrichment Week, performances, sporting events, community projects and cultural experiences provide opportunities for children across the school to learn, participate and celebrate together.

We are committed to ensuring that enrichment is an entitlement for every pupil. We consider accessibility, participation and individual needs when planning opportunities so that barriers are identified and appropriate adaptations or support are provided.

Ultimately, our enrichment offer aims to ensure that children leave Hughenden not only with strong academic foundations, but also with confidence, curiosity, creativity, resilience, independence and a sense of responsibility towards others.
