Sports Funding

The Sports Premium document for 2022/2023 is pending approval by the Governing Body.

The PE and Sports Premium Grant paid to primary schools is across the academic year, not the financial year.  This is paid in 2 amounts 5/12ths and 7/12ths.

We employ specialist sports coaches to deliver our weekly PE sessions which are matched to the requirements of the National Curriculum.  Our specialist coaches work alongside our teaching staff to enhance their skillset and confidence in delivering solidly good weekly PE sessions.  Our sports coaches help to plan and run our annual Sports Day which all children participate in.

We often invite a range of dance, gym and drama specialists in to further enhance our PE provision as draw on the expertise from our current staff to ensure the children gain from a wide range of different activities.

Our community run football club offers children the opportunity to engage in competitive sports against other teams across the County.  In addition, in order for children to benefit from County run Bikeability training and have the balancing skills to ride a bike, we use our sports funding to ensure all children in years 5 and 6 can participate.

Swimming

Swimming lessons ran from September 2021 to July 2022 on a weekly basis, a total of 36 weeks.  97% of our Year 6 cohort for 2021/22 met the national curriculum requirement to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively, and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations. One Year 6 pupil with physical difficulties did not attend swimming lessons and accounts for the 3%.

In order to meet KS2 National Curriculum swimming requirements, the School's Policy is to send all Year 3 swimming each year for 24 weeks, and then assess their progress. Any Year 3 pupil who is not able to confidently swim 25 metres after 24 weeks of swimming lessons is invited to continue swimming lessons for a further 12 weeks, along with any Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 children who have yet to pass. Any new entrants to the school in Years 4, 5 and 6, who have not had the opportunity to learn to swim, are also invited to 12 weeks of lessons.
