Christmas Unwrapped ‘Design a Card’ competition - write up from Wycombe Youth for Christ

We received a high number of entries from the children at Hughenden Primary School this year.  The standard of all the designs was incredibly high, and the entries from the children at the school were amazing.  Can I start by thanking the staff for the time that was taken to enable the children to be a part of this.  I wanted to congratulate all the children for the hard work and effort they put into their designs; you have a wonderful and talented group of children at Hughenden!

A winner has been chosen, but as the quality was so high we have also chosen some runners up too.  The winner was from Hughenden school – Oliver Andrews – and he has already received his certificate and prize.  However, some of the runners up were also from Hughenden and I shall be sending certificates to the school for Priyanka Gandhi, Nuala Burke and Enora Samaranayake in the next few days, which will hopefully arrive before Christmas.  Aiza Hussain was also a runner-up and although part of the school, she entered separately and her certificate is being sent to her home.

As I mentioned, the standard was incredibly high, and we wanted to celebrate all the children and their designs.  So, we have out together a video that does this.  Please feel free to share this with the children so they can enjoy seeing their designs on screen.  The link to the video is https://youtu.be/3R3Z2h-XsFc, but it is also available to watch through our website at www.wycombeyfc.org.uk/christmasunwrapped.  The designs were put together in a random order, so some children may need to wait patiently until they see theirs!

National Literacy Trust Christmas Card Competition

It’s been a popular time for Christmas Card competitions and Hughenden Primary have done well in the winning stakes this year!  Our congratulations go to Nuala for her winning entry in the National Literacy Trust Christmas card competition.  Nuala was shortlisted for the competition which was judged by the award winning illustrator Dapo Adeola.  Nuala's achievement has won the school a set of books as part of the prize which is amazing.  She was also a runner up in Wycombe Youth for Christ competition – congratulations, great work Nuala!
